How to communicate with our cats?

WHAT WE TELLING TO OUR CATS?

Hello everybody

Today I want to share with you bad cat behaviours and how to fix them. :) Animals are our companions and they "want to" do what we want.The question is 'are we telling them correctly what we want?','are we communicating with them properly'?

Lets give an example your cat making `meooow meoooow` at 5 am.It wants food and what you are making ? Are you giving food to your cat? with other saying 'are you giving reward to this behavior?`
If you are giving what it wants you telling your cat 'You keep doing this I understand'...
So today we will see what bad behaviours our cats have and are we causing these?How we can communicate better with our cats?

FIXING BAD BEHAVIORS

1.'MEOW' for get what it wants...

Your cat crying till it gets what it wants...It wants to play,it wants food,it wants to go out...And it keep meowing till you do what your cat wants.

If you react positively to this behavior.... Not a surprise your cat will keep doing it..Worse , it will do it more and more.Because you teached it how to communicate with you with this way.So it learned how to tell you what it wants and keep telling you till you do it.It can be really disturbing. While you working your little friend will come and none stop crying for get what it wants...

What you can do about this? You should not respond to this act.Let it 'meow'.When it stops and relaxes you can reward this. For example.It wants food and crying none stop.Let it cry. When it stops crying  you can go and give food.With this way your cat will learn crying not working but sitting quality is working. Your little cat may develop new ways to tell you what it needs/wants. For example my cat sitting next to food bowl and waiting. :) So show your cat with which way you want it to communicate with you.It will learn.Cats are smart. :) 

If its not work... When my cat didn't stop crying and being spoiled I closed him to room for 5 minutes.When he got out he got the message. :) Never act with anger,don't shout to your cat.Be calm and do what you have to do.

2.Behaving bad for attention

If your cat wants attention while you are busy...Your cat may do things that you won't like for getting your attention on itself.For example scratching around or something it knows you don't approve. :) 

What you can do about this? 

It is very important not become angry in these situations.If your little kitty knows you becoming angry it can use it in the future too.Let him stop what it doing and don't show attention right after it. Wait it relax and behave how you want to.After you can give him attention so he will learn how to ask for attention.

3.Stealing Food 

You shouldn't let your cat eat the stolen food.You shouldn't let him jump on table or anywhere you eat or prepare food. You can always give him from your food.With your permission :)

4.Rules

Everybody have their own house rules. Your children,you,your husband / wife, mother, father whoever living in the house obey these common rules.Your cat must too! No matter how cute it is :D For example it shouldn't do its toilet middle of living room, it shouldn't eat from table...:) You should teach these to your cat with correcting the bad behavior with kindness.In short time your cat will learn all the rules.Also don't forget if your cat is an adult it can learn and change its behaviours too. 
You don't have to find a kitten for teach it things. :)

HOW I MET MY CAT :)

Today I will tell you how I met my cat..
It was an autumn day and I was sitting at home..My mother called and said "here on street there are 5 kittens.Somebody left them.One doesn't have ears.I think somebody cut them` I said `omg bring it here fast` and at night my mother brang him and leave it to my house.It was small orange baby that  scared from outside word. Ran away under sofa and didn't come out for days...I didn't even name it yet. I couldn't see him proper even.He ran under sofa and didn't even eat.I put water and food next to him.Maybe he ate while I sleep. :) No idea. After few days he started getting used to.He came out under sofas  and started communicate with me. I have dogs and other cats too.I didn't take them inside of home for few days.Little kitty was already scaring too much. And luckly I realised he didn't have cut ears. He had folded ears :). My mother was so sad because of his brothers and sisters were on stairs at cold street still.She brought all of them too to our garden.
They had straight ears but they were look alike each other.

All of them were becoming more beautiful everyday.I named him Kubu. I wonder who throw them to street ...
Anyway I had to move to Poland after 1 year. And Kubu had to stay with my mother for 7 months. After we transported him to Poland. Only thing I was worrying he was with other cats there and here he is a single cat.But I found ways for keeping him busy.Playing with him twice a day regularly is helping with his boredom.Also he got a bit more fat ;) Winter is coming he is eating a little more than usual.

Kubu is very clever and best companian for us. Also we saved a life from streets.They would be long gone at winter on those streets.He became my best friend.My advice before go and pay for a pet check for helpless animals at streets or at shelter. You can save a life and you will have a lifetime friend that lives with you share its life with you and most important it needs you/loves you.
They show feelings in diffrent ways.Throwing out helpless kittens to street never a solution...if you having hard time with your cats and u MUST give them away you should try find a good home for them...Not leaving them to death.
Especially cats used to live in house can't survive at outside world.

Its your choice if you want a cat for your family you can start checking for helpless cats :)

Cats are everywhere..Cats are one of the closest animals to human.For many years human and cats lived together,Till ancient egypt,But do we know everything about cats? There are many diffrent breeds of cats. Here s 10 rarest cat breeds.

1.Iriomote Cat : Iriomote cat discovered in 1964.It has brown coat and dark spots on its fur.Same size of a domesticated cat and a predetor.There are about 250 adults and they only living in Japan /iriomote island.They live in rain forest climate and they avoid mountains and dry areas.They are creatures of the night.When night comes start search for food.They hunt on trees but they have diffrent way too for hunt.Swimming. These cats can swim for find their food.Iriomote cats live alone and all have their own territory.These cats are not domesticated.

2.Sand Cat: Sand cats are one of smallest cats and they are not domesticated. These cats living in deserts , far from water and have the colour of sand.Dealing very well with extreme desert enviroment.(adapted to extremely hot and cold temperatures) It has small legs and a long tail.They live in Northern Africa,Asia, They eat small animals and drink water when they can find.These cats can survive without water for months.

3.European Wild Cat:European cats are larger than domesticated house cats. These cats have striped , long fur , long fluffy tail.In winter at forest wildcat's fur colour is mainly grey.European wild cats living in Europe,Asia,Africa,India,Western China and Mongolia. Breeding the wild cat with domesticated species is a treat for the preservation of wild cat.

4,Leopard Cat : Leopard cats live in Asia and they are sized of domesticated cat.But they are completely wild :) At southern leopard cats have yellowish- pointy fur with white chest and belly, and pale silver fur at the northern population.

5.Pallas Cat: This is a small wild cat with very much fur :) Their long fur make them look plush. Ths poor cats hunted for their fur for long time. Pallas Cats are size of domesticated cats. It believed that Pallas cats are one of the oldest cat breeds.They live in grasslands of central asia.Their winter coat is greyer than the summer coat.Both males and females have their own marked territory.They live in small caves,spend time in these places till late afternoon come after that they go out for hunting.

They bring joy to our homes.You choose a pet for yourself and in short time it becomes part of your family.Dogs are great maybe the best friends for every family but if you are busy,can't walk your dog everyday,can't satisfy it's needs cats will be your best choice for your family. You don't need walk a cat everyday,you can leave it alone for hours sometimes days.You can't leave a dog alone.Dogs have much more stress,sadness and anxiety when they are left alone.Its easier to look after a cat.Less responsibility. Dogs fond of to their owners much more than cats does. So if your choice is a cat as your family companion you can keep reading :) Because today we are talking about cats and children.

If you are expecting a baby

Care your cat's health.Its important. Sometimes cat owners want to send away the pet because of baby.Scaring from toxoplasma and miscarriage. There's no need to panic and send away one of your family members. Well-cared house cats rarely have toxoplasma.You can take your cat to veterinarian and have your cat a toxoplasma test.Your own doctor will make a test for either.Its safe to keep a cat.You can always take advice from your veterinarian and your doctor. I m pregnant too and I have a cat.Just don't forget pregnant women shouldn't change litter box and avoid kissing cat after it groom. Toxoplasma transmitted by excrement.Don't forget you shouldn't feed your cat with raw meat.Cats can have toxoplasma from uncooked meat same pregnant women should wash their hands very good after touching uncooked meat too. If you be careful about raw meat,not letting your cat roam and hunt,not touching litter box there s nothing to scared about having a cat.

The crib must be forbidden to cats .When baby is too small it can be dangerous for babies. Your cat can be curious about going into crib, teach it kindly to not go in. With infants you should always watch your pet and baby. Even the most tolerant animal can be feel under threat and act aggressivly.


 Children & Cats

Raising children with animals will teach them loving and respecting to other living beings.Of course before you have to teach few things to your children,cat and yourself :)

First thing you have to do is teach your children how to pet and play with cat. Its important. Otherwise cat can run away from kids and don't want play with them.Kids will be a stress source for your little friend. We rather them to be friends,play together,have nice communication :) Its natural kids want to grab , hug  the cat. You should teach them how to act kindly, teach how to pet and hug it without causing stress to cat. You should also teach them the cat's body language.So kids will know when cat don't want to play  or be petted.Your children must know animals have feelings and they can feel tired , stressed too just like us. So they shouldn't see the cat as stuffed animal toy.They should know cat is living and feeling just like them.They should learn respect them.

Cat owners must know that looking after cat is never childrens' responsibility.You must be the one who caring about the cat but its always a good idea sharing the responsibility with your children.You can teach them how to feed , changing its water, grooming.These are very beneficial for children too,They will learn taking responsibility, caring about another living being,sharing, friendship and love. But you can never leave all responsibility to children about the cat. They are really young to know what cat needs. They can't take fully responsibility.Animals can suffer because of this.So don't forget its your responsibility.


Be a role model for your children.Be kind and patient towards the cat all the time.Even if it steal the food from table :D. Because children will learn from you how to threat animals.Always be kind and nice.

PREPARING YOUR CAT FOR WINTER

Fall is here and winter is coming. Summer passed and weather is starting to get colder. If your cat eats a little more than usual, don't try to stop it. By eating a little more,  it's just trying to get more fat in its body for winter and it's an ordinary thing to do. Because getting more fat in it's body is a preperation for winter. It has it's own preps too .
     First of all your cat may need more food just allow it, but don't mix it with obese/overeating problems. So be careful.

We've come to end of delightful,sunny days.If you have a balcony and your cat used to go out don't worry at cold your cat generally won't want to go balcony/ outside. Maybe just for few minutes it will look around.At cold weathers its better watching outside from windows.Still if your pet wants to go look outside from balcony you can let it look.It won't stay long if its cold. :) Let your cat decide for its own good sometimes.If it is curious whats going on outside let it experience it.Your cat will decide come back to home fast :) Don't forget after few minutes if your little friend still didn't come you can take it back to warm indoors. 

You will notice while your cat sleeping  everywhere in summer (floor,chairs maybe even balcony) at cold weathers it will prefer to sleep at your bed :) , or at sofas.

You may not feel cold enough to warm your house.It may not same for your cat.It can be cold. You can give soft,warm blankets to your cat. If it has its own pet bed put there one warm blanket. If not put anywhere it likes to sleep.Cats love to go under warm,soft things even when they are not cold.You should not forget `kittens` shouldn't go out at very cold weathers no matter what.They don't have full fur,enough fat yet.


When it's cold or wet its best to keep your old,sick or young pets inside.

You may not feel need to warm your house.With these small supplies you can make your cat happy and warm. Its more about their enjoyment than avoiding cold :) Warm and soft things are 'cat thing'.Be sure u provide these to your pet.

Cat's fur is not perfect for cold weather but usefully enough. Another important point is its not recommended make your cat wear clothes.Cats definitely don't like it.Also they cant clean themselves,they don't feel comfortable with cat clothes.Its not recommended.





Cats are very resistant to heat.So don't panic if your cat laying on heater,radiator and other hot places.



Life is easier to indoor cats when its cold outside.
One thing you can do for outdoor cats 'feral cat shelters' if you can not do nothing you can leave some boxes and put inside something warm.Street cats can hide in bad weathers. Below links you can have some ideas.And don't forget to put water and food for street cats.That's most important.

1. Scottish Fold: This folded unique ears makes these cats very very cute :) They also have unique sweet calm personality.Kittens are born with straight ears and in three weeks some of cats' ears start to fold.They are friendly, playful and social cats which like to be with human. They love to being in same place with people and they like kids too. Great cat for building friendship .They are calm, not panicing  in cars,planes...clever and sensitive. They don't like to stay alone. There are three types of ears. 'Single fold,double fold,triple fold'

These cats are mostly healthy.Good breeder should breed these cats carefully. Breeders mostly mate Scottish fold with American short hair and British short hair.One of the parent must has `folded ear gene'.When both parents have folded ear gene,the kitten likely suffer from leg and tail bones thickening issue. Because they like children :) Some people are even saying they are similar to dogs.Loyal to their owners and love to being with their families. These cats have curly unique ears arched backwards. American Curl is an easy cat breed which is quite healthy and has minimum grooming need.

3.Bombay: These black beauties love attention.Loves to snuggle,Attached to its family.Also very nice to watch its shiny black coat.Bombay cats don't like to stay alone in home,They need special attention from its owner.So these all makes Bombay Cats are very good for families who will give it attention and love :) Bombay cats can live everywhere,grooming needs are minimum. Bonus : They are great in house with dogs too. These cats can have obesity problem and eye problems.

4.Turkish Angora: Very playful,very helpful and talking a lot :) Another great cat for families especially families with small kids.They allow kids to do anything with itself.Angoras likes to being around people. It has big ears,long hairs,,And mostly white.They have long hair but don't need much grooming.They live long and they are mostly healthy.They can have over eating problem and some kidney problems.

Playing games with your cat will bring out the playful kitty,it strenghts the bond between you and your cat ,also it is important because playing games will help fend of boredom,increases the cat's mental abilities,helps with hunting instints and a great way to exercise.

FIRST STEP : CAT TOYS

There are many kinds of cat toys you can buy for your cat. Your cat will like to play with diffrent toys, but cats can get bored from playing with same toys, so you can hide one toy give other one and change again after a month.This way will help your cat never bore from its toys.

Rod Type Toys: These type of toys allow you to play with your cat. Your cat will like to chase toys.IMPORTANT : Dont leave this type of toys around when you are not at home or when you are not watching your cat. String is dangerous for your cat.You can see at below link how cats play with rod toys alone.But I recommend you play together with your cat.It will help you build bond.

Pelush Toys: Soft toys not only entertain your cat they are also great `night toys`.At night sometimes cats want to play and when they throw toys they making a lot of noise.If you leave a soft toy for your cat at night it can play as much as it wants and no one will wake up :)) Soft toys are very safe for your cat. They will like to hunt it and try to kill little pelush toys.

Balls: Something to chase around :) Mostly end up under sofa after few seconds of playing.

Boxes/market bags/Cat Tunnels : Most cats love to hide inside a box,follow its pray from darkness :) They will invent several games with boxes/tunnels.
Cats need to hide as their nature.They can sleep,play and enjoy the sounds which bags are making while they are playing inside :) So getting your cat a box or tunnel is great idea. You can also do it yourself too.With a box and few holes.

SECOND STEP : HOME ACTIVITIES

You can 'invent' games and challanges for your cat in house. These small games/puzzles will increase your cats mental abilities and will make it have good time/ease boredom.

THROWING TREATS: A game me and my cat invented :) Throw treats a little far away from your cat and watch it catching them.

HIDING TREATS: Hide few dry treats in house.You can hide them in box,under table where ever you want.Leave them.Your cat will learn to find them and start search for those treats.It will increase its hunting skills :) and really fun. Note : When you are not at home you can hide some of treats and till you are away your little friend will be busy with searching the house and not bore alone.



CAT TV : You can open videos for your cat and let it watch :) Not best way but when you are not at home it is usefull,

BALCONY: If you have balcony secure it. Make sure your cat won't go out from balcony.After let it enjoy outdoors.Cats love to sit at balcony and watch outside.Great way to spend time.They will be watching birds,people,other cats, whatever interests them.

 PUZZLE FEEDER : You can buy these food dispenser toys or you can make it yourself.For make it yourself put your cat's favorite treats in a small bottle and make holes. Allow your cat try to get treats inside of bottle.Give it an opportunity for hunt down its own food and work for it.

A Beginner's Guide For Cat Owner

BASICS 

Hello everyone;

If you decided to have a cat in your house or if you have one recently and you are not experianced tips below will be helpfull for you and your cat.

What You Will Need

Food and water bowl : Stainless steel or ceramic bowls are good for your cat also healthier than plastic bowls.You should keep bowls clean also don't forget to change your cat's water once a day.You can buy food bowls from pet shops,internet,local markets.There are many varierities of bowls.

Grooming Tool: Especially when your cat molting you may need a soft grooming tool.Cats mostly clean theirselves,they will like little assistence.I advice you groom your cat under sun, My cat like it twice more when I groom him under sun :) You can buy comb for cats from markets,pet shops and from internet.If you want something more effective try buying one from veterinary.

Litter Box: Your cat has a toilet need too. :) Dont forget to keep it always clean. 

Scratching Post : Do you want to keep your furniture safe? :) Start educating your cat with scraching post.Scratching is cats' basic need.

Transportation Box: If you think you will not need take your cat out of house think again :) At least yo will have to go veterinary with your cat.So buying a safe nice cat box will be helpful.

Toys:Your cat needs play games.You can get help from cat toys.Toys and playing game is important for cat to exercising,stimulating enviroment also an opportunity for hunting. A healthy cat needs to play.There are diffrent types of cat toys you can buy from markets,pet shops and via internet.You can make DIY cat toys too. Cat Treats: Cats love these small treats more than food :)) You  can use these as rewards or just a happy moment for your cat and yourself. Be careful about not to give more than 10 treats in day. :)) 

Cat Food:Choosing a right food for your cat important.Low quality foods are not good for cats. You can ask advice to your veterinary for which food you can buy for your cat. And dont forget not to change brand very often.I recommend sometimes giving normal food to your cat (what you eat).

If you have cat/cats in house especially a single cat , you can do few stuff to entertain your cute friend.

The Things You Can Build For Your Cat:

Cat shelfs: Cats love views...Cats love to climb.Cats love to sit at high places.One of best ways entertain your
cat is building shelfs for it. Maybe up on wall maybe near window so your cute pet can enjoy sitting its special place.

Places For Hide: You can buy cat tunnels,special houses, for your cat or you can make a hiding box yourself for it.Both will be make it very happy,will love to play in it.Also hiding and feeling safe is important for your little friend.

Cat Grass:A flowerpot and catgrass seeds will be enough for making a miniature green garden for your pet.Cats love to eat grass or only sit on it.Make it at least as big as it can sit on it. With this way your indoor cats can feel soil too like others.You can see my cat lying at his favorite grass- flowerpot at left :)

Bring Outdoors To Indoors: If you have few plants in your house your cat will like it.They like to sit next to plants and feel them.If nothing sitting next to them :) Also you can teach them not to bite or harm your plants.So they will only enjoy being next to plants.

Bird Feeders: Find places where your cat can watch the birds (infront of window) and place bird feeders.Your cat will be having fun watching the birds.
